The lecture will took place at the Wildling Museum on Sunday, February 10, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Read More“Nature Abstracted,” a three-hour workshop for adults (teens were also welcome), started from a photograph of a place in the natural world which the student brought or chose. Painting an abstract version of a picture you have taken in a natural setting where you have been, such as a lake in the Sierra, the Grand Canyon, an Alaska glacier, or the view of the hills from your backyard, can be more meaningful. After a few warm-up exercises and descriptions of different styles of abstract art, students painted an acrylic abstraction of this photo on canvas.

Admission was free from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with a special members-only preview at 12 pm. Local artists and craftspeople were featured. Carolers added to the festive atmosphere, along with free cider and cookies and a photo opportunity with the Wildling holiday décor.
