The class was to immerse yourself in the meditative art of botanical illustration. Whether working with graphite pencil, watercolor, colored pencil, or pen and ink, students of nature could learn to draw and paint growing things and to understand their form and function.

The Wildling Museum of Art and Nature presented “A Conversation in Poem and Stories.” This program was free and open to the public. Pre-Screening: Into the Arctic: Awakening at the Wildling Museum of Art & Nature
On March 2 the Wildling Art Museum partnered with the NatureTrack Film Festival (NTFF) to present a special pre-screening of an "official selection" for the 2019 NTFF Festival, Into the Arctic: Awakening by director Cory Trépanier, a landscape painter, filmmaker, and explorer based in Ontario, Canada. Cory’s fine art career spans two decades and has always been intertwined with his passion for the outdoors.

“Nature Through the Eye of a Needle - a Shared Adventure,” was an artist talk with Dr. Isabel Downs and Dr. Robert Warner. The lecture will took place at the Wildling Museum on Sunday, February 10, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Dr. Downs is currently the Featured Local Artist, and her fiber art of bird and marine scenes is on display in the museum store.

The Getty Center Group Trip
On April 10, 2019 we spent a day enjoying the art, architecture and gardens of The Getty Center! Our visit included a 45-minute guided Architectural Tour and plenty of time to do lunch. Hosted by Elverhøj Museum & Solvang Rec Department.

Island Wildlife Cruise
This 3-3.5 hour Island Wildlife cruise took us through the waters of the Santa Barbara Channel, Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary and the Channel Islands National Park known to have more marine mammals than any other area on the planet. Hosted by Wildling Museum staff.

Carrizo Plain National Monument Group Tour
This tour was a visit to the unique and beautiful Carrizo Plain, touring Soda Lake and learning about the plants, animals, and geology of the San Joaquin Valley. Local artist John Iwerks joined the group to share his experiences living in Carrizo while painting a wildlife mural of this special natural area.

Tuesday, February 29, 2019 was a day at The Broad Museum with a guided 1-hour tour followed by free-time. The Broad is known for its extensive contemporary art collection along with interactive audience installations, thought-provoking exhibitions and cutting-edge architecture.

Nature Abstracted Workshop
“Nature Abstracted,” a three-hour workshop for adults (teens were also welcome), started from a photograph of a place in the natural world which the student brought or chose. Painting an abstract version of a picture you have taken in a natural setting where you have been, such as a lake in the Sierra, the Grand Canyon, an Alaska glacier, or the view of the hills from your backyard, can be more meaningful. After a few warm-up exercises and descriptions of different styles of abstract art, students painted an acrylic abstraction of this photo on canvas.

8th Annual Holiday Boutique
Celebrating the holiday season, the Wildling Museum hosted its 8th Annual Holiday Boutique on Sunday, December 2, 2018. Admission was free from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with a special members-only preview at 12 pm. Local artists and craftspeople were featured. Carolers added to the festive atmosphere, along with free cider and cookies and a photo opportunity with the Wildling holiday décor.
