January 29th | Create a Nature Journal with Artist Kathy Badrak

Start the New Year off right and join artist Kathy Badrak in making your own nature journal on Sunday, January 29, 2023, 12:30 - 4:30 p.m. at the Wildling Museum. This class will provide a fun and easy introduction to the art of handmade bookmaking.
Attendees will create a simple bound journal perfect for setting intentions for the New Year, sketching, nature journaling, and more! Books measure 6 inches tall by 4 inches wide with 64 bound pages inside perfect for writing and drawing. Students may add pockets for collecting natural specimens and a magnifying glass to assist in outdoor journal studies and doodles.
This class will cover all necessary tools, what kinds of paper to use, and instruction on how to finish your journal with beautiful natural embellishments. Holding a handmade book is a wonderful feeling – and they can also make a special gift for a friend. All attendees will be able to create a journal to take home, along with the knowledge and skills to create more!
Class fee is $50 and includes all materials, click here to register online. Suitable for ages 16 and older. Class size is limited to 12 participants, advance registration required.
About Kathy Badrak
Kathy Badrak is a mixed media artist who has been a basket weaver for more than 30 years. She loves harvesting and preparing different local natural materials for her basketry and enjoys working with their many colors, varieties, and textures. Intrigued with the weaving patterns of her baskets, she began to explore different methods of weaving on wood, gourds, and stone in her art.
Badrak is a member of the Lompoc Valley Art Association, California Gourd Society, and the American Gourd Society. Her work has been featured and sold through art galleries, commission work, and shows throughout California. She has won numerous awards in juried shows and has exhibited as a featured artist at the Cypress Gallery in Lompoc, California.
