JOIN US ON OUR NEW DATE!

SUNDAY, MAY 15, 2022, 2 - 4:30 P.M.

Join Central Coast professional landscape and nature photographer Nic Stover for an in-person workshop at the Wildling Museum on Sunday, May 15, 2 – 4:30 p.m designed for photographers of all skill levels looking to improve their editing skills and take their work to the next level.

In this session, Nic will demonstrate how the most impactful and compelling images are those that have the proper balance of technique, vision, and processing. All of these skills need to be developed and continually refined through our own artistic and creative processes.  The skills you will learn will help you to evaluate what images you might want to select for your portfolio, see some simple ways to correct minor distractions in post-processing and give you greater confidence to express yourself in new ways.

The first half of the class will explore some of the following essential concepts of composition and image design:

  1. Discover more about what makes a compelling image.

  2. Learn how the eye and brain move through images and what leaves us confused or unstimulated.

  3. Discuss the 19 “compositional guidelines” for landscape photography with image examples and ways to recognize them in the field.

  4. Examine the different mood lines that we experience in nature and how we can use them and the inherent shapes that are formed to communicate with or direct the viewer through images in a more concise and clear way.

The second half of the class will be a hands-on review of your images talking about things to change or modify within your capturing or processing.

Format:  Open format with the opportunity to ask questions live after the presentation about the materials, information, or anything else on your mind.

About Nic Stover

Nic Stover was raised in the high mountains of Western Colorado on a single magazine subscription to National Geographic and only 5 television channels, where the only shows his family regularly watched were Nature (PBS) or the Tour De France. It was here that his love for adventure, the outdoors, and travel took shape.

Stover is based in San Luis Obispo, California, and focuses on landscape photography classes and workshops along with selling custom and limited edition prints. He enjoys showcasing the amazing places that are unique to the Central Coast, from sea caves to sand dunes, and our dramatic coastal landscapes.

His landscape photography work has taken him across the globe — from the backcountry of Greenland to the windswept mountains of Patagonia, and the frigid extremes of Alaska. His portfolio of work encompasses aerial photography, desert, ocean, night, and mountain photography.

Nic Stover Photography exists to engage people of all ages, backgrounds, experiences, and desires into a dialog and journey into the natural environment and the impacts we, as humans, have on this changing world. Stover’s work exists to honor the art of photography through his ability to capture the moment or show a beauty that can be shared with the world.
