Celebrating 25 years: Selections from the CalNAM Permanent Collection
featuring New Piece by John Marshall Gamble, donated by Mel Sahyun
March 22, 2025 - October 2025
The California Nature Art Museum is pleased to announce our latest exhibition, showcasing both new acquisitions and long-established pieces from our permanent collection of nearly 150 works of art.
Curated by former board chair Peter Adams and his wife Becky, both long-time CalNAM patrons, this show features artwork from exceptional local artists such as John Iwerks, Nell Campbell, and Museum Founder Patti Jacquemain, as well as artists from all over the nation drawn to the unique beauty of California.
Also featured in the exhibition will be the newest acquisition to our collection, an oil on canvas painting by historic California artist John Marshall Gamble, donated by museum supporter Mel Sahyun. The close-to-home piece, Rincon Point and Wildflowers, features an iconic California landscape found within our very own Santa Barbara County. This artwork will be displayed publicly for the first time in honor of this special anniversary exhibition.
About the Curators
"We were thrilled to have gotten the opportunity to view the CaINAM Permanent Art Collection - it is diverse, eclectic, and a beautiful montage of California as seen through the eyes of outstanding painters, photographers, and sculptors," state Peter and Becky Adams.
"In our selection of these featured 25 artworks, we want to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the Museum 25 years ago, begun by Patti Jacquemain and fellow art supporters as the Wildling Art Museum in its very first location - the Keenan Hartley House in Los Olivos. It was a brave act which has survived and thrived to this day, and we are so proud and happy to be able to thank its founders and supporters for the wonderful legacy that we all now share."
